Original Article: Families in Skagit shooting spree speak at killer’s sentencing

MOUNT VERNON, Wash. – Holding a picture of her husband David, Pam Radcliffe stood in front of Issac Zamora, the man who murdered him.

“You mutilated him … look at him!” she said.

The family of several victims spoke Monday morning, trying to share in words the pain they’ve suffered.

They talked of suicidal thoughts, sleepless nights, and children so torn by the loss of a parent, the only emotion they’re capable of feeling anymore is anger.

Fred Binschus talked about his wife of 26 years, Julie.

“After shooting her you hunted her down and execute her … you’re a coward,” he said.

Issac Zamora’s family spoke too.

“On behalf my family we’re so sorry, don’t expect sympathy, we don’t expect anything,” said his mother, Dennise Zamora.

She explained to the court how issac used to be a bright loving kid, whose mind and body became hijacked by mental illness. And when she tried to get him help she discovered our state’s laws were of little help.

“If I could have had some safe place for my boy, I would have gone with Deputy Jackson to find my boy,” she said.

That boy, now a man, will be locked up for life. He will first undergo treatment at Western State Hospital. If his mental illness improves, he’ll serve the remainder of his life sentence in prison.
